Sequential Change of Cardiac Cycle in Normal Neonates

Abstract
We evaluated the sequential change of cardiac cycle of left hart in normal neonates.
@ES The results were as follows.
@EN 1) Left ventricular ejection time did not change significantly with increasing age.
2) Left ventricular isovolumic relaxation time increased significantly during the first week of life.
3) Left ventricular isovolumic contraction time showed no significant change, but decreased with increasing age.
4) Left ventricular diastolic time showed a significant increase between the initial and third measurements.
Our study detected a transitional diminished postnatal ventricular relaxation and compliance at birth in full-term neonates and showed a subsequent improvement in following measurement during the first week of life.
